Apra has been involved with the Charitable Giving Coalition, a joint effort with our fundraising partner associations CASE, AFP, AHP and more, to protect charitable giving interests in the United States. With the new administration's considered tax reform, there is a clear challenge to charitable giving, as the Trump Administration has indicated that they want to cap donor charitable deductions per new guidelines. The last time this happened was during the Reagan Administration in the 1980's and there was a large drop in charitable giving that took 20 years from which to recover. The Charitable Giving Coalition is asking the Trump Administration to exclude charitable giving from any cap on deductions in tax reform.
To that end, the CGC is organizing a Fly in Event on February 16th of a sizeable group of over 100 people to attend a hearing on Capitol Hill. The feeling is that there may not be a second opportunity to get the message across. Click here for more details.
If any of you can travel to Washington, DC on February 16th and can attend, please RSVP to Janet Rapp, Executive Director of Apra, and share in which what Congressional district you live. Janet will attend and indicate which other Apra colleagues will attend.
This is a great opportunity to show your Apra pride and to advocate on behalf of our profession.
Best regards,
Jill Meister
Apra President
